Two trialists depart with four more invited to train at Oakwell

French midfielder Malaury Martin has left Oakwell after joining Barnsley on trial.  The former Middlesbrough man was offered a contract by Keith Hill after impressing him in the Reds last few pre-season fixtures however Hill said that they were “poles apart” from agreeing a deal with the Barnsley boss seeing him a “too much of a risk” to have been offered better terms. Barnsley close to signing Mido

Former Tottenham and Middlesbrough striker Mido has emerged as one of Keith Hill’s key transfer targets of the Summer as the Barnsley boss rebuilds for another challenging season in the Championship.

News of Barnsley’s interest in the Egyptian international striker has already been picked up by the mainstream media and a deal to bring the 29-year-old to Oakwell would appear close.

Mido is currently a free-agent after leaving Egyptian Premier League club Zamalek and will be looking to reignite his career after a number of uninspiring seasons since his initial transfer to Middlesbrough. (more…)
