After what seems like the longest running transfer saga in history to Barnsley fans, Jacob Butterfield has signed for Norwich following the end of his contract at Oakwell.
Keith Hill was desperate to keep hold of the star-midfielder however the lure of the Premier League and assurances from Chris Hughton that he will be given plenty of opportunities to play in the first team at Carrow Road has meant that Butterfield leaves Barnsley having played exactly 100 games.
As Butterfield is under the age of 24 a fee will need to be paid for the player and in attempt to avoid a tribunal, Norwich bosses made an offer which Keith Hill described as, “an absolute joke. It’s scandalous, disrespectful to Barnsley as well as the management teams and his team-mates.”
