Kelvin Etuhu accepts Reds offer

After it looked like a possible deal to bring him to Oakwell was dead, former Manchester City youngster Kelvin Etuhu has signed a one-year contract with Barnsley.

Keith Hill had worked with Etuhu whilst he was on-loan at Rochdale and was looking to bring him to Oakwell last summer.  On that occasion, club doctors were not happy with the results of the medical and Etuhu eventually joined Portsmouth where he looked solid in a team that was ultimately relegated.

All the noises from Portsmouth and Kelvin himself suggested that would be signing a contract extension and remain on the south coast to help Pompey in their battle to return to the Championship.  However, the extent of Portsmouth’s financial problems meant they were unable to offer terms that we acceptable to the player.
