Barnsley target Kieran Djilali

Despite being without a manager, reports have emerged that Barnsley are planning a swoop for young Crystal Palace midfielder Kieran Djilali.

The 20 year-old product of the Eagle’s youth academy has featured in almost 30 league games for Palace as well as playing a number of times on loan at Chesterfield over the past couple of seasons.

Such a signing would re-affirm the clubs new philosophy of building a younger team with less reliance on loan players, however without a manager in place it is unlikely a deal would be struck in the near future.

While the signing wouldn’t demand a transfer fee, Palace would be entitled to compensation due to the players age and the fact that he was trained via their youth system.  The Reds are also said to face competition from local rivals Doncaster Rovers for Djilali’s signature.
